Don't count out Bell

by Michael Russelle

Your coverage of Patty Wetterling's withdrawal from the U.S. Senate race is disappointing, because it essentially discounted Ford Bell's candidacy.

Amy Klobuchar is popular in the DFL, and many are saying that she has the party endorsement wrapped up. Ford Bell is not as well known, and that's unfortunate. Both are accomplished and active members of the community. There's a lot to like and respect about each.

After meeting Bell, however, I am convinced he is a real visionary with an extraordinary ability to inspire others.

Another key difference is in style. Klobuchar's signature verb is "fight," while Bell says "commit," "invest," "modernize," "challenge," and "join." Which best suits the Senate?
