2003 - 2004 St. Anthony Park Neighbors for Peace Survey

BACKGROUND
    The purpose of this survey was to learn more about our membership and gather information about how St. Anthony Park Neighbors for Peace can best work toward peace and freedom. Ideas for questions were drawn from results of a brainstorming exercise conducted at an organizing meeting.

    Of about 300 surveys mailed or e-mailed in December 2003, 44 were returned. The feedback will be important in planning and organizing activities.

QUESTION 1.   How did you first learn about St. Anthony Park Neighbors for Peace?
    Most respondents first heard about the group through a friend, neighbor, or relative. The next most common response was through a Neighbors for Peace event, then through a Bugle ad or article.

    Most said yes (26), or somewhat (16). One said no.

    Twenty-Six said they had, and sixteen said no.

    The issues are listed below starting with the ones named most often, preceded by the number of times listed.

QUESTION 5.  Would you like to be part of a discussion group to learn more about, or take action on one of the above issues?
    Seventeen people said yes. Peace & war alternatives; war in Iraq; and US foreign policy/UN/International cooperation were each identified by five or six people as a discussion topic they'd like to join. These people will be put in touch with each other.

QUESTION 6.  Please check any of the following ways you'd like to participate in SAP Neighbors for Peace.
    Most were interested in continuing activities similar to what we've done in the past year, including attending an educational event, or a potluck with a speaker.

The last question asked for suggestions, which have been shared with members who can make use of it in organizing future activities. Several people also made donations.
