Vision and Mission

We work for peace and freedom.   Because war and violence destroys lives, liberties, and livelihoods, we choose to work for peace. We choose non-violent alternatives.

Given this choice, we seek:

  1. To deepen our understanding of the constitutional roots of democracy: informed and active participation, freedom of speech, right of peaceful assembly, right of petition.

  2. To understand the causes of conflicts in general and the current conflicts in particular.

  3. To understand – and to act to heal – the consequences of war and violence to societies and individuals.

  4. To educate ourselves and others about the causes of war and strategies for peace.

  5. To act directly and non-violently in accordance with our understanding of causes of war and strategies for peace.

  6. To encourage others, in our community and beyond, to join in non-violent efforts toward a culture of peace.

  7. To work for ethical and constitutional political leadership.
