Vision and Mission
We work for peace and freedom.
Because war and violence destroys lives, liberties, and livelihoods, we choose to work for peace.
We choose non-violent alternatives.
Given this choice, we seek:
- To deepen our understanding of the constitutional roots of democracy: informed and active participation, freedom of speech, right of peaceful assembly, right of petition.
- To understand the causes of conflicts in general and the current conflicts in particular.
- To understand and to act to heal the consequences of war and violence to societies and individuals.
- To educate ourselves and others about the causes of war and strategies for peace.
- To act directly and non-violently in accordance with our understanding of causes of war and strategies for peace.
- To encourage others, in our community and beyond, to join in non-violent efforts toward a culture of peace.
- To work for ethical and constitutional political leadership.
