    The chart shows some of the President's current budget requests. Red shows military and war-related spending. The Treasury Department's budget includes interest paid on the national debt, about 80% of which results from past military spending. Green shows additional, off-budget outlays for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, expected to be an additional $70 billion. The total of all military and war-related expenses is about $1 TRILLION, just for one year.
